OCTOBER 2019 EXAM REGISTRATION FOR THE PE (PAPER-AND-PENCIL) AND SE EXAMS

All PE Exam Applicants can now register directly with NCEES

  • Click https://ncees.org/engineering/#louisiana to apply for OR reschedule the PE examination
  • For those rescheduling their PE Exam, please be aware of Board Rule 1315.


  • Apply for Licensure as a Professional Engineer by Examination
    PE Applicants wishing to apply for a license by examination in Louisiana must meet the below requirements:

  • You have graduated with a BS degree from an EAC/ABET accredited program
  • You have submitted a transcript to NCEES
  • You have passed the NCEES FE and PE Exams (exams must be verified on your NCEES dashboard)
  • You have obtained the requisite four years of progressive engineering experience subsequent to meeting the educational requirements
  • Your experience record(s) and verification of experience form(s) have been uploaded to your NCEES dashboard

  • *The PE Chemical  is computer-based and administered year-round at NCEES-approved Peason VUE test centers.
  • *The PE Environmental exam is computer-based and administered year-round at NCEES-approved Pearson VUE test centers. Registration opens on April 1, 2019.
  • *The PE Nuclear exam and PE Petroleum exam are computer-based and administered one day per year (October 15, 2019) at NCEES-approved Pearson Vue Test Centers. Registration opens on November 5, 2018.

    FE, FS and PLS Exam Application Information
    (Deadlines are not applicable for these exams)


  • The Fundamentals of Engineering, the Fundamentals of Surveying, and the Principles and Practice of Surveying exams have been converted to computer-based exams.
  • To take the FE and FS exams, candidates who meet the requirements for certification should register directly with NCEES: http://ncees.org/exams/state-pages/louisiana-exam-registration.
  • To take the PLS and/or the Louisiana Laws of Surveying exams, candidates should apply to LAPELS for approval.
