The Law and the Rules of the Board constitute the regulations governing the practice of engineering and land surveying in the State of Louisiana by any individual or corporation.

     Law - Revised November 2008
        The statutes which establish and delineate the powers of Board are Louisiana Revised Statutes (LRS) 37:681
    through 37:703 which we commonly refer to as "the engineering law" or "the law". These statutes are enacted
    by the Louisiana Legislature and can be amended only by the Legislature.
     Rules - November 2008
        The law is supplemented by rules embodied in the Louisiana Administrative Code (LAC). Rules may be
    amended or repealed by the Board without legislative approval. Title 46, Professional and Occupational Standards,
    Part LXI. Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors constitute the "Rules of the Board".
