How can I get a replacement for my Certificate of Registration?

We no longer provide cards. To get proof of registration for individuals click here. To get proof of registration for firms click here. Input the appropriate search information such as the name or license number and click search. This will bring up a list of the closest matches that have current registration. Click on the license number of the individual you are verifying. A detailed information page will be brought up. At the bottom of that page, click the button which says "View Status Verification". This will open a PDF document with status information. You may print this document or save it to your computer.

How do I register a firm?

Formally notify the Board by letter stating: 1) that you wish to register a new firm, 2) the name and type of firm (corporation, partnership, etc.) 3) designate by name and number the professional registered in Louisiana who will qualify the firm and be designated as "supervising professionals". We will open a file and instruct you further. See Chapter 23 of the Rules of the Board and Firm Application Instructions.

How do I change the name of my firm?

We now have an “Application to Change Firm Name” that can be downloaded from the website (Adobe pdf or Word document) and submitted to the Board if the firm only wishes to change the name under which it offers engineering services in Louisiana. The firm only has to apply to register a new (different) firm if it changes its organizational status.

How much is your fee for verification of my registration to another state or agency?

There is no fee to verify a registration or examination. If a particular form is to be used, please complete the personal information portion on that form prior to sending the form to this Board.  You must also provide a pre-addressed, stamped envelope.

How can I get the percentage of my grade, what steps must I take?

The Section 1313 of the Board Rules states “Applicants will be informed by mail only as to whether they passed or failed an examination. Numerical grades will not be released by the board.”
The policy of NCEES is to inform the Board only that an applicant has passed or failed. Therefore, the Board does not have the applicant’s numerical grades.

How can I find out when an examination is scheduled?

See the Examination Schedule.
Your complete application must be received by the Board months before the examination dates. For details see the Examination Schedule .
[Top of FAQ]

Where are the examinations administered?

The examination sites are determined by NCEES, the agency that administers the examinations for the Board. NCEES will notify you of the location where the examination is administered and provide directions to that location.

I passed the Fundamental of Engineering examination while I was in college; when will I receive my certification as an Engineer Intern?

After the Dean of Engineering notifies the Board that the applicant has graduated, the Board will certify the applicant.
A common reason that new Engineering Interns do not receive notification is because the student will move after graduation and will not leave the Board a forwarding address. Contact the office to update your mailing address.

Most dealers described under "Rubber Stamps" in the Yellow Pages can make a "pocket seal" or "desk seal", the sizes acceptable by the Board.

Formally (by letter or fax) notify the Board of the registrant's death.
[Top of FAQ]

I am having trouble downloading a document (file).

When you click on the link to a file it will open in your browser if it is an HTML type file; otherwise, the browser will call the application with which the file type is associated by the operating system, e.g., files of type "PDF" are associated with Adobe Acrobat so the browser will call (open) the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the contents of the file. If the file has no prescribed association or if it is and executable file, e.g., type "EXE", the browser will prompt you to save it to the disk by opening a "Save As" dialog box.
Once you have opened (clicked on) a link to a file and that file has opened in your browser, you simply use the menu commands FILE | SAVE AS and, from the "Save As" dialog box, specify the location and name for file on your local drive.
You can speed up the "Save As" process with these steps to download a file in the respective browsers:
Using Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) or America Online (AOL) simply RIGHT-CLICK on the link and choose "SAVE TARGET AS ..."
Using Netscape Navigator simply hold down the SHIFT KEY which you click on the link or RIGHT-CLICK on the link and choose "SAVE LINK AS ..."

I am having trouble with self-extracting zip files.

First, You must download the self-extracting zip file (type "EXE") to your local drive paying attention to the location where you save it.
Second, using "My Computer", "Windows Explorer" or any other file management program, simply click on (open) the file. You will get a "WinZip Self-Extractor" dialog box.
Third, note that in the middle of the WinZip dialog box is a text box titled "Unzip to folder". This text box will be filled with the location on your local disk that your computer operating system defines as you folder for temporary files. If you want to change that location you need only to click on the "Browse" button. Remember this location — this is the sub-directory on your disk to which the files will be extracted and saved.
